LAMBORGHINI 1979 TITANIUM ROAD BIKE

 

 

At the 1979 Frankfurt Motor Show Lamborghini SPA unveiled a rather special vehicle, no it was not a car but a bicycle. The Italian Press, the Tifosi and the general public were horrified! The bicycle sported not Campagnolo but Shimano Dura Ace with Titanium parts especially made for this bike. The reason for Lamborghini not using Campagnolo was in retaliation to Campagnolo’s tardiness in not supplying Car wheels under pressure from Ferrari.

The bicycle was built using Titanium wherever possible including the front forks, combined with the expensive Magnesium and Polyester used added up to a weight under 6.5 Kilos.

Lamborghini made 5 of these bicycles using the special Shimano lightweight group set of which this bicycle Number 19 is one.

Under pressure from the public Campagnolo and Lamborghini settled their problems and Lamborghini made the rest of the 27 Bicycles of the original planned 500 with a Campagnolo group set.

This beautiful Bicycle is totally original and has never been used apart from a quick around the block ride. This bike has been kept as a Museum piece and is virtually unmarked.

If you are going to ride a Gran Fondo or L’Eroica then this bike screams correctness and will be a most suitable ride for the most discerning owner.

I have owned this bike since 1980 and it has always been kept in air-conditioned surroundings.

I have, due to my age decided to downsize and relinquish my collection of this and many other historic Bicycles.

The bicycle is a 55cm x 55cm square frame and has many features that can only be described as the ultimate in bicycle construction and appointments.

The pictures show the quality of this Bicycle and will not disappoint.

Cavolo che bella bici io sono per il classico sulla bici da corsa e da tutti i giorni acciaio perchè sono povero titanio se fossi ricco !

Ciao a tutti, ultimamente ho avuto la fortuna di vedere, toccare e provare (per qualche centinaio di metri) un telaio Passoni modello Top (uno dei primi modelli, saldati ancora a mano e con piega e pipa integrati). Un mio conoscente se ne voleva liberare e mi ha chiesto di metterglielo su qualche sito di annunci. Durante la permanenza sotto il mio tetto ho avuto modo di apprezzare la lavorazione completamente manuale dei tubi e la rifinitura. Davvero leggerissima, meno di 8 kg montata come in foto. Posto di seguito qualche foto (mi scuso per la qualità) così da condividere con voi ciò che ritengo essere, a mio modesto parere, una delle più belle bici che ho visto. Mannaggia a non avere i sssssoldi :(

Boh,

quando un fornitore/terzista smette di fornire ( a parte le ragioni personali che portano un artigiano a mettersi in proprio ) i motivi possono essere molteplici:

a) standard qualitativi ritenuti non più idonei ed in linea col marchio/blasone (!?);

b) tempistiche di consegna e volume di lavoro richiesto insostenibile;

c) standard di pagamento da parte del committente non più in linea con le richieste/aspettative del fornitore;

d) richieste tecniche e desiderata del committente non più esaudibili" da parte del fornitore;

e) varie ed eventuali...

 

Non entro nel merito e non prendo le parti di nessuno ( oltretutto l'ex fornitore di cui sopra poche settimane fa ne ha fatta una ad un mio carissimo amico che evito di commentare pubblicamente non avendone titolo alcuno),,

ma se non è un segreto industrial/militare, è dato di sapere chi salda per Passoni attualmente?
