Ehm... ho interrogato San Google, ma non so bene che termini cercare...

insomma, a cosa servono quelle "alette" che si trovano au alcuni freni? Soprattutto vintage:

servono a stringere il freno con le mani per smollare la levetta a sinistra

così non devi sgonfiare e rigonfiare la camera d'aria per cambiare una ruota ;)

suppongo sia per rendere la cosa il più facile e svelta possibile, tipo cambiar ruote durante una gara.
