First of all: Sorry for necroing this thread and also doing this in English... But after a quite thorough google review I suppose this thread is the best option to get some info on a frame I recently obtained from Berlin: a turquoise Maffioletti Olympic Frame. It came equipped with a Campa bottom bracket (needed a 2m lever to screw the adjustment cup loose) and headset. I guess it's Chorus. I am currently at rebuilding it more or less with vintage parts and I would be really happy, if someone could give me some background on this frame, the manufacturer, etc. From what I already learned it is/was a smaller company. Anyway, every help is appreciated - Thanks a lot from the Rhine.

Hi Sid,

thanks a lot for looking into this. With the help of Google Translator I was able to understand what was said (sadly, my knowledge of any romanic language is legendary bad). So what I figured out, Maffioletti is/was a small manufacturer from Bergamo – that get's me a general idea where this bike is coming from. Great idea with Jonsey's flickr album. You are right, the lugs (and the stems) match – just that mine has Shimano hangers and the stem is cracked. Very helpful for roughly dating this thing.

Thanks again

Lukas

No, it was not. i'm just quoting from the first jonsey's message, since i didn't know anything about maffioletti before, but he said that maffioletti was not a welder, he simply used to buy bikes from someone else and put his marks on them-or to ask some other welder to use his own lugs in order to make a specific frame (the case of your bike). he was instead a very good bike mechanic!

@Jonsey ne approfitto per chiederti due cose. Ho comprato una look tempo fa e mi sono ritrovato l'adesivo del negozio maffioletti di villa, è lo stesso? In tal caso, esiste ancora quel negozio?

si, sarà stato lui sicuramente...il negozio dovrebbe esserci ancora, però non ci sono mai stato quindi non so darti info precise

quel negozio non esiste più da anni...
